About Our "Technology Integration Tools"

The AECT project is identifying the core technology knowledge and skills teachers should possess for 46 different teaching roles, and pre-service and in-service teachers will be recognized with technology certificates as they master technology skills identified for their roles. As we worked toward the development of this certification program, it became obvious to us that we were creating a knowledge base about the most important ways in which teachers use technologies, and that we could create a set of tools that will help teachers make good decisions about the use of technology, and will help teacher educators help their students graduate with the skills they need. The set of tools we are creating will include: Tools designed to help teachers and future teachers think about how they will use technologies to improve student performance (our "Goal / Strategy Investigator" and "Goal / Strategy Selection Guide") Tools that help teachers and future teachers assess their technology-related skills and knowledge (our "Technology Skill & Klnowledge Self Assessment") Tools that will help teachers and future teachers learn to use technologies in short, "just enough, just in time" online lessons (our "Technology Tutorials"), and Tools to help teachers and future teachers plan for and achieve successful technology implementation (our Implementation Planning Tools). These tools are in their "prototype" stage at the moment, but you are free to use them. We offer them to you at this stage because: Teachers and teacher educators who have been testing them find them very useful, even in their current prototype stage We find that the best way to communicate where we are headed to potential partners is to show them the prototypes, and We want feedback from you about how we might make them even more useful With that in mind, please return to the "Tool Menu" and explore!
