Teachers are very busy, very practical people. They will learn about technology when they see a clear benefit to their students, and when the opportunity to learn fits with their very full lives and busy schedules.

For this reason, we have developed a set of over 150 "technology tutorials" that will soon cover all of the prerequisite skills and knowledge that our expert panels identify that teachers should have. These lessons take the form of short, animated tutorials that generally last from three to five minutes each, and because they are available through the Internet, they are available around the clock.

Our Technology Tutorials are currently avaiable in the form of an organized list, presented as a web page (see the illiustration below). There are about 200 topics we believe will be prerequisites for teachers, and we have developed about 150 lessons already. When you get to the web page, you'll see a page consisting of two columns. The categories of prereqiusites are in the left-hand frame, and when you click on a category of basic skills in the left-hand frame, a list of lessons will appear in the right-hand frame. Clicking on any of the underlined topics in the right-hand frame will begin a lesson. (If a topic is not underlined, it means that we have not yet released that lesson.) You may experience a brief pause of about 15 seconds or so while the images that make up the lesson are downloaded to your computer.

In the future, this list of lessons will be integrated with the "Technology Skill and Knowledge Self Assessment" and the "Goal / Strategy Investigator," so that you will be able to jump straight to a lesson when you discover the need.
