- Purpose of the study: To understand how teachers of different subjects and with levels of experience with technology think about, and choose to use technologies.
- Confidentiality: Your participation in this research is confidential. We will release only data that pools information from groups of teachers, and your name will not be associated with the data at any time, except when it is transmitted between your computer and ours. Your confidentiality will be maintained to the degree permitted by the technology used, however, no guarantees can be made regarding the interception of data sent via the Internet by any third parties.
- Procedures to be followed: If you agree to take part in this research, data will be gathered as you interact with the tools we have provided. As you answer surveys, state your prioriteis, and describe your use of technologies in your classroom your answers will be recorded. Your answers will be combined with answers gained from many other teachers, and we will draw conclusions and make plans based on the group data.
- Benefits: The result of this study will describe how teachers teacher educators, and others think about technology and use technologies, and will help us help preservice and inservice teachers learn to use technologies well, ultimately resulting in a better educational experience for students.
- Discomforts and Risks: There are no risks in participating in this research beyond those experienced in everyday life.
- Duration: The length of time you will be involved in this study is determined by your level of interest. You will be granted ongoing access to the tools, and may return to use them at any time.
- Right to ask questions: You may ask any questions about the research procedures, and these questions will be answered. Questions should be directed to Dr. Kyle Peck. If you like, you may print this form for future reference.
- Compensation: There is no compensation for your participation.
- Participation is Voluntary: Your participation is voluntary. You are free to stop participating in the at any time, or to decline to answer any specific questions without penalty.
